Less is More

The resume is a key tool in the recruiting process and is the first impression a hiring manager or recruiter gets of you.

Sometimes it may be easier to focus on what you shouldn’t do – what you omit is just as important as what your include. There is no all inclusive handbook on what exactly your resume should look like, but there are a few things that most would agree should not be included. Next time your resume needs a few updates, here are 8 things you should consider leaving off:

  1. Any mention of high school
  2. An objective
  3. Personal information
  4. A second page
  5. References
  6. Paragraphs
  7. Typos
  8. Misrepresentation
